Skill level:
Setting your affiliate ID
This short tutorial is here to help you setup your affiliate ID with the Amazon2 module for MOS 4.5. The latest Amazon module can be downloaded in the registered users area of this site.
Let's take it step by step. You may even want to open up your administration area (in a new window) and follow along.
First, there is a readme file in the Amazon2 zip that you downloaded. You can always read it for additional information and it will reference the Mammeters available to use with this module.
- go to your administrators area and login
- highlight Modules, then Manage Modules and click
- find the Amazon module or whatever you named it to and click
- you should be in Edit Modules area of your administrator backend, and this should be the Edit Modules area for Amazon2. If not, then start over at number 1.
- at the bottom of the Edit Modules page you should see a Parameters box. If not, then you my have an incompatible version of MOS.
- in the Parameters box we want to insert the Mammeter Amazon_id. It's case sensitive. Just copy and paste from here.
- after the Amazon_id we want to add an equal sign =
- We should now have something that looks like Amazon_id= If not, go back to step 6.
- after Amazon_id= you add your actual Amazon ID. Do not include any spaces.
- So, if your Amazon ID is rocketsurfer, then the complete Mammeter would look like: Amazon_id=rocketsurfer
- Now, save, publish and take a look at the page you have published it on.
- check to see if it worked by holding down your right (left if you're a lefty) mouse button and look for your affiliate ID at the end of the string. If it's there then you're all set. If not, go back to number 1.
That should do it!
Extract the readme file from the Amazon2 zip file for more Mammeters that this module uses. All Mammeters go in the Parameters box on their own line. That's one per line.
NOTES: don't use any quotes with these Mammeters. If you are wondering what a Mammeter is, then read the article Working With Parameters in the articles section of this site.
