You don't need to download it, unless you want to take a shortcut to see if Joomla or Mambo can run on your host. Otherwise you're looking at uploading the entire Joomla / Mambo package. This checker is a breakdown of the default install routine and checks for Joomla / Mambo compatibility of your host.

How to use it?
Download the zip file and extract to your local machine. Upload the installchecker.php file to the location you would like to install Joomla / Mambo at. Point your browser to the file on your server and view the results.
